Default 2nd Alternator in a month!

I have a 1999 Audi A6 Avant Quattro 2.8l. The alternator recently went out and i replaced it. it was on the car for 2 weeks and it shorted out. Brought it in to be tested and it failed. Got a new one under warranty. Installed that and also a new battery since the one in the vehicle was 6 years old. I have been driving it around for 2 weeks and now the charge light is on again and and the alternator once again fails the test. I did notice the second time that i replaced the alternator that the pulley had a slight "wobble" so i filed down the pulley surface and that seemed to fix the problem (probably why the original one or the first replacement failed). Now two weeks later the light is on and now i see that the belt has lost an entire "v" from it. Im guessing my pulley modification may have caused this but i didnt file off much more than 1mm. Does anyone know where i could get a new pulley or at least the part number for the pulley??? its a valeo 120 amp alternator.

078 903 119 H part# for the Valeo pulley

About $80-$100 at the dealer, just for the pulley.
