95 A6 Wagon Hatch Latch Problem
I have a 95 Audi A6 Wagon.
I am having a problem with the Rear Hatch.
I can open it from the inside.
The latch from the outside does not work however.
I have tried the different settings with the key lock, as I know one of the settings locks stops the hatch from working, but that does not fix the problem.
I have the inside covers taken off and I am looking at the mechanism, but I cannot figure out how it works or what is wrong.
Does anyone know how to find a drawing or diagram of the workings of the back hatch lock and releases, so I can diagnose it?

OK I found the broken part, it is a bronze colored tube of sorts that attached to the outside handle that has come loose. It appears something holding it broke. So to fix it I need to figure out how to remove the back wiper assembly and also the outside handle assembly. Any suggestions?
I had a problem with the hatch on my Avant and took it apart from the inside.
Bentley was almost useless -
I can't remember what it looked like but it was not hard to figure out.
I did not have to remove the wiper assembly.
I think there were nuts holding the handle in place --

You'll need to repair it from the inside. The tricky part is getting the interior panel off. This post has just the basics for removing the panel.

From there you'll have to check it out and see what broke, It's usually a roller-pin looking round piece that breaks or the pot-metal lever that it sat in. Either way, a small nut and bolt or a bent nail usually does the trick. I did this same repair on mine a few months ago.
I do believe the wiper motor is in the way. You'll take off 2 nuts from the outside. First the small nut that holds the arm on, then the larger nut that holds the motor to the hatch.
It'll take a bit of time, but it should be an easy fix overall.
