96 A6 Quattro 2.8L - rough shifting - need help

OK, I LUV my 1996 A6 Quattro six cyl (4 speed auto). Bot it a decade ago from an elderly couple that put on like 75,000 - all hiway. I put on another 75,000 - all hiway too. VERY well cared for since birth. 150M now.

A couple months ago she just died on a local road; I could not figure it out;brought it to my local Audi indie; needed a Camshaft Position Sensor (or Halls). $1000 later I pick her up and after a couple days have some new tranny problems. EXTREMELY ROUGH SHIFTING!!!

OBDII codes say VSS. So I replace that VSS along with a new (used) TCM and ECM and a complete tranny fluid exchange.

She still shifts hardcore; like a freaking earthquake; upshift or downshift; all gears.

This vehicle was babied since birth; I don't get why the tranny is whacked. It shifts at the expected speeds but feels like I am getting rear ended. Seriously. New fluid and proper level made no difference.

Maybe the CPS was installed wrong - is that possible???

I have no clue what to do next. The tranny is acting funky and I don't know why and don't want to spend another $1,000+ at my indie to figure it out.

Any idea folks??? THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
