a6 4.2 - 2.7T swap ?????
Hey guys,
Has anyone here done a C5 A6 4.2L swap to a 2.7T? I'm just curious about or considering this because of the potential power gains that can be attained by upgrading the turbos on the 2.7T ( like the K04's) plus the fact that there is a better aftermarket for the 2.7T.
(Also, my tranny wont go in reverse on my 4.2, and I dont want to replace the tranny or engine, but that's really a different issue for me altogether).
i was considering the PES supercharger for the 4.2, but it's expensive as heck!!!
Any thoughts or information on this would be appreciated.

Why? Why not just trade your 4.2 for a 2.7?
And, to answer your question, it would require some a lot of custom work. ANything can be made to work given enough time and money but you would be piles of cash ahead trading your 4.2 in. And, while you are at it, get something other than an A6. A6s are nice cruising cars but are too heavy to be race cars.

Yeah, what Bob said.
While the 2.7 is much more "moddable" the 4.2 is a more "reliable" motor, IMHO.
If you want a car with the 2.7T just go buy one. A much less expensive option.

+1 ^^^
As much as I like the widebody 4.2, it has a longer hood to fit the 4.2 so if you tried to swap the 2.7t it would fit, but you would need to fab custom engine mounts. Besides, modding the 2.7 is seriously expensive, the supercharger is probably the same cost in the long run.
