a6 avant needs more power

a6 avant needs more power
just bought a 2000 a6 avant, naturally aspirated 2.8. it's a good car, but frankly, it needs more power. anyone out there have experience with this problem and come up with some good remedies. not interested in going crazy (like supercharger/turbo) for $ and smog (CA) reasons. was thinking about just doing some basic bolt-on type stuff, exhaust, intake, maybe headers (if they exist for this car). i want to do things that will make a real difference, and i'm kind of skeptical as to how much difference i'll see with said bolt-ons
i don't know much about these cars as i'm a brand-new audi owner and don't know what the best resources are out there. i know there's a bunch of stuff out there for a4 owners, so surely there's got to be some good resources for us a6 people who want a little more room!
thanks.

maybe should have got the all-road equipped as an s4 instead!!!

Welcome to an Audi ownership. Great cars if you treat them right. Anyways, in direct response to your question... you have no option. I am not trying to be an **** or anything, it is just that there is no simple stuff that can add good power to 2.8. Trust me. I did the ECU upgrade, K&N filter, considered exhaust upgrade and etc, but nothing will help you out. In most cases, many bolt on stuff, such as cheap CAI, and exhaust will probably make your car go slower.
If you really want a wagon that can get up and go, then go find a S6 and Allroad.

I have an 00 Avant 2.8 and find the power to be adequate. Would I like it to be a muscle car...of course, but I am too cheap to pay for the gas. If it bothers you that much, sell the car and get an Allroad or S6 as hxgaser suggested.
Otherwise just live with it, and honestly, it's not that slow for a huge luxury station wagon that ways a lot.
