Default A6 Chassis reinforment

I recently upgraded my 2000 A6 4.2 suspension. However, now there quite abit of creaking. What options are available to reinforce or stiffen the chassis?

coilovers, sway bars, poly bushings, diff bushings, diff carier, sub-frame bushings, upgraded control arms, etc. i could go on, but how stiff are you looking to get your suspension?

How many miles are on your car? Chassis' age as they get older and loosen up. I don't know of any chassis stiffening devices, such as shock tower braces or subframe tie bars, available off the shelf, but that is what you are looking for. Custom made may be the only way to go. Seam welding would also help a great deal but that's more for race cars and less for a street car.

But, keep in mind, you do not own a race car, not even a racy car. You own a German Buick. Love it for what it is. Don't try to make it into what it is not.

It has 170K miles on it. So it is probably issues with the age being exposed by the stiffen suspension. On other types of unibodies, this can be addressed by sub frame connectors, trans cross members, etc. I'm wondering if this has been addressed by some one else. I've seen the additional reinforcement in the sportier models where there are some additional cross members built into the chassis.

If custom is the only way, is there a recommend a6 experienced fabricator?

My car has 166k on it and is starting to show signs of chassis flex as well.

Where are you located? I know a fabricator here in the Detroit area. I know of a couple others in different metro areas form buying parts for other cars.

Any interest out there in a group buy? If we can get 10 people to commit cash we can get the custom parts at a large discount over the cost of a one-off.

Do you know of any replacement parts such as a reinforced subframe or other mounts? I've seen some here and there, but generally for the A4.

Are there any additional reinforcement parts on the S6 or RS6 that aren't on a 4.2L A6?

Barring that where is a good place to start to look in fabricating reinforcement parts?

get an apikol rear diff mount. new/upgraded control arms will help alot too. read my first post. thats all available for your car to tighten it up. maybe not the diff cross member bushings. i got all that form my s4 and it feels like a new car.

Fonzo, I looked those up, and it looks like a good idea. That also lead me to start think if there are additional bracing on S4 and S6's that could either be bolt on or modified to fit an A6. So, on your S4 is there additional bracing that you notice?

Fonzo,

Read the original post. He has an upgraded suspension. The parts you suggest do NOT stiffen the chassis, just stiffen his already stiff suspension.

i see. thanks for straightening me out Bob. sorry for the confusion Firewks.

As for the additional bracing you speak of that the s6/rs6 has over a regular a6 i think its just suspension mods like better shocks and stiffer springs and more aggressive diffs. that is if they are anything like the s4/rs4 compared to the a4. i can swap in an rs4 front and rear sway but any after market company can get you a better set.

034 makes an upgraded cross member but not sure if it works on an a6.
