Default ABS module compatibility

I have a 99 A6 with a Passat ABS module. Im throwing a code for the pass. side rear abs speed sensor. My shop recently picked up another 99 A6 with a bad ABS module and replaced it with one from a Passat as well and it just happens to be the same code as mine. Is this coincidence? I dont want to spend $125 on the sensor if its because of module incompatibility. Anyone have any ideas?

PS: the part numbers on the 2 modules are the exact same except the one from the Passat ends in P and the one from the audi ends in A if this helps

Just throwin out what comes to mind

Perhaps if the Passat was not a 4-motion, that may be a start.

It might be possible to adapt/recode the ABS module in Vag-Com, maybe there are different codes for the A6/Passat...
