Default ABS Module Rebild

My ABS and ESP lights come on and off on my 2002 A6 2.7T and I'm considering having the module rebuilt as my mechanic wants $764 for the part and $249 in labor. I believe it is the Bosch 5.7. [I would go look which one it is, but my A6 is in the shop w/ oil in all the wrong places - $1,400 fix]

Scouring the forums I found:
http://www.modulemaster.com/en/Audi/A6_info.php
for $300 they'll fix it - 5 day turn around - 5 year module warranty.
I also found:
http://www.cheapabs.com/index.html
for $99 they'll fix it - 1 day turn around.

Anybody use either these guys before and would suggest one over the other (or someone else)? I would also consider just buying rebuilt one if the price is right.

Thanks,
-Dave

I have used these guys. They did a good job and the price was about $150 a couple of years ago on a C5 A6 ABS module.

I had good luck with modulemasters and can vouch for their honesty. A few years ago I was trying to jumper my fog lights to come on as DRL and shorted out my ABS. Sent it to modulemasters who checked it and sent it back as good, no charge. After re-installing in the car, it worked fine. It probably just needed to be "power cycled" to clear the error I inflicted myself.

Thanks ManyAudis - I will take a look at their site.

Also, it's nice to hear that modulemasters can be vouched for since they do appear to be the more expensive of the options.

Now, my mechanic said that it takes 3 hours to take out and put back in. Ppgoal - did you do the replacement yourself and is that a reasonable estimate? Saw you have the 2003 2.7 and thought it might be a similar job to my 2002 2.7. The site says that some model years you don't have to remove the whole wheel cover and washer fluid tank.

Also, did you drive it while the ABS module was removed?

I had some other work done on the car at the same time, but the charge for remove/repair the ABS was one hour labor. And I did drive it without the ABS. If memory serves me, they removed it and sent it in to MM. It came back about a week later, at which time I brought the car in for additional work and re-installation of the ABS.
