Is it possible for the car to be started if I am within close proximity? For example, lets says that I am in a hotel or store, within range of the transmitter, could someone just walk up and open the door and drive off?

 

The FOB needs to be inside the car in order for it to start.

 

I guess i should have just did a test in my own. Withe key not on my person, i was able to open the door and start the car. key was about 4 feet from me. Is this a flaw, that I should have checked out at the dealer as mine will start?

 

Was the car door open when you started the car? Four feet is not very far. I will experiment with mine and let you know.

 

If your doors were locked when it started I don't see how they could take your car... If your **** was unlocked they might be able to take **** out of your car and I am not sure about taking it.

I checked mine, if the doors are closed I can't start it unless the FOB is inside the car.

 

you cannot start the first time but you can leave the car on and walk away and the car will show a signal that the key is missing. No one can drive away with your car. In order to open the door first you have to get really close to the car (as you already know)
