Air conditioning...PLEASE HELP
Vrso2;
Can't you access the compressor from the bottom of the car? Once you remove the oil cooler(the thing the oil filter screws on to) it looks like it's right there. If you really have to take the whole front assembly off it'll be a lot bigger of a deal than I thought. ...But 'das Audi!
Csswitzer;
I dont think that will be an issue because it wasn't the clutch that went out, it was the coil that engages the clutch. So just electrical...not really mechanical. But ill prob get the $3 part...cheap insurance

Okay, This is what I did. First I decided that I could remove the compressor from under the car by removing the oil cooler. I bought the A/C Compressor off E-bay for $50 bucks.
Then I went to local Audi dealership and picked up all the necessary gaskets (two o-rings for the compressor[$3.50 each] and one for to go between the oil cooler and the engine block[$10]) After that I went to my VERY trusted mechanic and he quoted swapping them out for $100.
Did it and Works Great! All for a total of $170...
The cause DID turn out to be the compressor clutch coil which we diagnosed by testing the resistance between the ground(on the compressor) and if there is none...its blown.
