Alarm goes off
Twice to day whilst sitting in the driveway locked up in 90 deg heat my alarm went of for no reason. 1999 A6 Avant Quattro with 50000 miles. Is this a common happening or do I have something that is activated that I don't know about. I've been reading the owner's manual but haven't found anything. Any ideas out here. ritam

RE: Alarm goes off
Do you have the windows open while it's locked? If so, when you lock the car there's a sensor that measures changes in the atmosphere which will set off the alarm if wind happens to blow in through the window. If you have access to VAG-COM you can raise the sensitivity level so it won't go off as much. If you don't have the windows open and it goes off, it could be a fault with your Central Locking System.

RE: Alarm goes off
The switch is in the drivers door jam, next to the trunk pop button, I think it has a car symbol with some lines above it, a red light that lights up.
Does anyone know if there is a way to disable this function with out a vag com?????
Mine goes off to if we leave the dammn windows down and car locked, I hate it....

RE: Alarm goes off
I read about that switch in the owner's manual but the switch in my car does not have the button in it. There is a plastic 'thingy' in the pillar hole but it has no movable pice in the center, just a open hole with what looks like a plastic post waiting to accept some thing. No indication of a light being present. So the sequence is not clear, I hit the button first then shut the door and pess the remote locking button, right? How am I going to see the, 'light blink quickley for 3 sec and then flash slowly after 30sec', if I 'm outside the car? ritam
