I have a 2003 Audi A6 Quattro, which I happen to like very much. I have however been having some issue that have forced me to sideline the car until I can figure out what is wrong. Can somebody tell me what is wrong with the following? The transmission started not shifting past second gear and would almost jerk or slam into first gear. The gear shifter LED P, R, D, N etc..., all would light up at the same time. Recently all of the gearshift LED just disappeared and the gearshift would not shift out of park when the car was turned on. To be fair I have not had the car very long. I knew when I brought it there were going to be issue; however, I wanted a project rebuild car. Can someone tell me what is wrong and what my repair approach would be?

 

You wanted a project and now you have one. Sounds like you need to rebuild the transmission. Get a VAG-COM and pull the transmission codes. I am sure it will provide you with some insight into the problem.
