Default Audi a6 automatic transmission problem

I have an Audi A6 automatic. The engine revs alot when i press the accelerator without proportionate motion in Drive . It begins to move normally as i progress on the road. When i press the brake to stop it begins the same process again. When i put the gear in reverse the car moves properly. However the dashboard is not displaying properly. Please help

Our Mercedes ML320 did this. When we would drive, the revs jumped to around 5 - 5.5K just to get the car moving very slowly and then once we got moving it was fine. I believe we had to replace the transmission on that car.

2 courses of thought, first being that the TC seal is gone and the tranny is slipping, second the TIP range sensor, the second def will cause the tranny display to be fubarred. On another note Brice, I see your in for the smoked tails, I thought you were letting the A6 go?
