Default Battery replacement

I need to replace the battery in my 2006 Audi A6 3.2L. Audi dealer wants north of $300. I can buy one for $150. Is there anything special that needs to be done in replacing the battery? Just take out the old & put in the new? Will any of electrics be disturbed while the battery is out of the car? Is it better to set up another battery to the posts located under the hood (for charging & jump starts) while the battery is changed? Will this keep power on in the car? Thxs for your help.

Take the old out, put the new in, hook up the vent tube and away you go! The electronics have enough memory to survive a battery swap.

Do a search in the A6 section and you'll learn all you ever wanted to know about batteries

There is a risk the radio could lock if it loses power. You need the secret code to unlock it and the dealer will charge you to reveal this code unless you already have it. If it was me, I'd buy one of those small battery chargers that plug into the cigar lighter to keep the electronics powered up. Autozone carries them. I'm sure other stores do, too.
