Arrow Body differences on a 4.2

OK well obviously the fenders and sideskirts/sills are flared out, but I also noticed that the headlight washers are recessed rather than "bulging" out of the bumper. Is anything else different? I want to make sure because I am goign to order a few parts and I dont trust ebay and the sites to have their info correct. I am mostly interested in the mirrors and front bumper inserts(grills). Thanks in advance.

The 4.2 Quattro is a couple of inches wider that the other models with smaller engines. They are also longer overall so NOTHING from a non 4.2 will fit your car in the front.

I believe the recessed washers are a model YEAR difference not a change for the 4.2.

I thought the flat (recessed) covers were if you had a winter package (including headlight washers) and the "bulging" covers were not operational washers...just covers.

Nope, the difference is face lift vs pre.

My 2000 A6 2.7t has the Bulging Headlight Washers. They work just fine -- just not as "clean" of a look. From what I have seen it appears that most cars newer than mine have the flat ones, most cars older have the bulging ones.

I was told the older covers had a tendency to pop off the washers. (I do not know if this happens with the newer ones.) The guy I bought mine from (in 2003) has used zip ties around the "legs" to keep them on. They are still there 6 years and about 110,000 miles later.

OK I just started shopping around for a replacement fog light surround. So am I correct in understanding that I can only use one from a 4.2 because the whole bumper is wider? I thought (from reading on here) that the "facelift" occoured in 2002. This 2000 has the flat headlight washers and different fogs than my 99 had. I dont think they are functional on the 2000 but I couldnt really care so im not sure.
