Default Brake pad replacement

I own a 2001 Audi A6 2.7t. I have owned it for 3 years and have never touched the brake pads/rotors. The warning light on the LED display has come on and it is my understanding that only the front brake pads have sensors attached to them. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Anyways, I'm in need to replace, at a minimum, the front brake pads. I was looking at car parts at rockauto.com and found some extremely cheap brake pads. The problem is that I don't know a lot about cars.

Brake/Wheel Hub : Brake Pad Auto Parts

I was buying brake pads from this list. Would the first 2 brake pads mentioned on this link work for my car? The first ones to buy would be front, and the second link is rear, as you can tell from reading it. Do I need to buy 2 of each? Do I need only front brake pads? Would these even work for my car?

Sorry for all the questions, I just really don't have the money to be buying too many brake pads or pads that don't work.

Thank you!

Brake pads are typically sold in sets for an axle, front or rear. So when you purchase one of the items from the link, you would get 4 pads, 2 for each wheel. Those are pretty cheap pads, so they may not have the sensors. Some descriptions list the wear sensor as included or not. Some make no mention. You may get what you pay for here.

Also, the cheaper pads won't have the backing pads to eliminate brake squealing. If you are sensitive to that, look for pads with noise reducing pads.

You may also need rotors. They rust and wear over time. I just went through it with my daughter's A4 and it was over a grand, including replacing one caliper and using ceramic pads. The last time I did my A6, I think it was around $800. These are not cheap cars and, unfortunately, the discount brake jobs do not apply.
