How complicated is a freakin axle? Audi over charges like you would not believe for something that has been mass produced for all cars for the last 80 years. If you paid 850$ for an axle I would laugh and laugh and laugh. If audi did everything right they would have gone out of business long ago but people like you keep them in business. When I replaced my axle with a NEW one that I got at o reily's for 85$ I did a side by side with the audi axle and aside from a 1/4" shaft diameter difference they were identical. I was also more impressed with the construction of the aftermarket which was much beefier than the stock in the CV department.

 

LOL I wonder if the O Reily axel was made from reconstituted Hondas or old Toyotas that had experienced un-intended acceleration. Maybe old beer cans or chewing gum wrappers JKiddin !

The $85 price is fantastic -- I'll have to check ORielly's out for future purchases...
