Default Buying used 01 2.7 A6 Quattro bi turbo

I am looking at a 2001 Audi A6 2.7 Bi turbo with 180000 miles on it. The car looks and drives great. Was wondering if the miles are way to high and I shouldn't buy. Need some advice please. Thanks.

It will be hard to give you a straight answer without some additional information.
180k can be a money pit. Some question you should be able to answer before even considering:

-When was the last timing belt change?
-Have the turbo's been changed or are leaking?
-What is the condition of the transmission?
-How does the suspension look like (worn, torn, bumpy ride)
-In which intervals did the previous owner change oil?
-What major repairs did the previous owner take care off?

Personally it would be to risky for me but it might be the right thing for you. In any case expect to drop some serious cash into the car (if not now, then soon). Also you should be able to do most of the work yourself or the dealer/shop will bleed you dry

Could be a nice car if everything has already been fixed:Timing belt, controls arms, TRE, torque convertor (which, if it was going to go because of the seal problem, it would have died by now), oil leaks, ignition modules, secondary water pump, coolant reservoir, washer fluid reservoir, spyder pipe, various vacuum hoses, axle boots and struts. If not, the price of fixing these can buy you a nice new car! Reread Sheldon's last sentence!!!

Good luck,

Bob

Ask if you can take it to an Audi mechanic for a buyer's inspection. I did before I bought mine and they told me exactly what needed replaced and what condition everything was in.
