Default Cam Position Sensor

Have a quick question, I have a 01 A6 2.8 and my Cam sensor had kicked the cel on a while ago. Finally got around to checking it out and realized something broke in the sensor and tore up the inside reference disk( the part that bolts directly to the camshaft ). Was just wondering if anyone knew if there was anywhere online I could get a new one, all the sensors I can find only include the outer electronics. Thanks in advanced!

Or does anyone know if a 95-97 2.8 sensor + disk will work on an 01 2.8?

There is a guy on Ebay that has a fair number of used parts for your exact car. He may have what you need. His would not be "new" but it could solve your problem. From what I remember rebuilding the heads on my 2000 A6 2.8 those sensors only came as an assembly.

Used is totally fine, do you happen to recall who on eBay you bought your parts from? I have done a fair bit of eBay surfing, the only ones that i can seem to find that include the disk part are for 95-97. May have to just buy one of those 95' ones and see if it works and if not maybe at least the disk fits and I can just get a new 01' sensor.

Thanks! Didn't see what I need, but he has quite a few 2.8 parts that might come in handy later!

From my parts diagram, I'm thinking that part that is on the end of the cam is 078-905-234-F and if it's a round sheetmetal part then that p/n is correct. It is 21.45 from us, and about 1-1.5 weeks away from you from the date of order, depending on your location. I googled a picture of the part number to see what it looks like.
