Default Canbert tensioner bolt shear and camshaft wear

I have just had the cambelt tensioner bolt shear on my 2002 Audi A6 2.5TDI with 102K miles. I am waiting for the bad news, but what is even worse is that the camshafts are severely worn. This is incredible as I have been changing my oil every 11,000 miles with longlife 506.00 spec oil. Has anyone experienced either of these problems.

If cambelt tensioner is the same as timing belt tensioner then yes, you had a pretty much common case, and yes it lasted its life. Should had changed it at 90k miles. Good luck with the repair tho, after that your car should be ready for another 100k miles more.
