Car accident - Snapped timing belt
Hey guys!
So I got into a car accident last friday. I rearended a Toyota truck at ~20 mph. I hit him with the right corner of my car. The top corner of the radiator broke the timing belt cover, shattered one of the timing belt pulleys and snapped the timing belt. What are the chances that the engine is ok? I know the 2.8L are interference engines, but i've also heard that Audi has some kind of emergency shutoff system in place.

Sorry - very likely to be bad news. Emergency shutoff system might be to kill fuel in the event of oil pressure being lost, or something like that? The engine takes quite a few cycles to come to a halt no matter how hard you try.
With a new belt installed you could do a leak down test on each cylinder and hopefully find only one head has bent valves. Odds of no bent valves are very slim.

If you broke the belt with the engine running it would have at least bent 3 valves, the engine can't stop fast enough. The emergency shut off will trip if the front air bags deploy or if you flip the car. By the time your airbags deployed the engine would have already snapped the belt. Now if you didn't get your air bags deployed then the engine stopped because the belt was snapped and you for sure bent all kinds of stuff.

Hello! Hope you're doing well. And although sometimes it seems that some damage is minor, it is important to always remember safety. I regularly read accident reports and my heart sank every time. Let's work together to make our roads safer and reduce the number of accidents. Every little bit counts, and working together can make a difference. Road safety should always be a priority.
