CD PLAYER

I have a 2000 a6 2.7t with the bose symphony cd/tape player combo. It is giving the msg ERR1 every time I try to play a cd. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

maybe try cleaning the lens with one of those CD lens cleaning kits?
