Default Center display in German

About a month ago my A4 3.0, 2002 blew a fuse for the Power Control Module and the car stopped working in the middle lane of a very busy freeway while I was doing about 70 mph. I managed to move to the shoulder at about 5 mph. Scary Stuff. The fuse was #29 and blew again after about 100 miles.

I put in a new Power Relay (209) and the car has been good for 310 miles so far without blowing the fuse again. Hopefully that is fixed.

Problem I now have is that when I turn the car on, the Center display shows the first message in German and the trip mpg and average speed are stuck on random amounts.

I’m sure this is to do with the fuse blowing but does anybody know how to fix it?

Any help is appreciated

Cheers

Piper

You need a vagcom to attempt the fix/recode. Your instrument cluster probably got haywire when the circuit blew. If you have VAGcom, then it is under function 10, Adaptation. Channels 03 and 04 under the Adaptation control Mileage consumption and language settings. If you have VAGcom, then shoot me a PM. I will explain in detail.

Thanks hxgaser,

I'll download the lite version of VCDS and see if I can connect with the cable i'm using.

I may have to go ahead and buy the full version and maybe a compatible cable.

The lite version will allow me to look at the values but not save
The Unregistered/Unactivated version of VCDS-Lite will only allow access to the first 9 Adaptation Channels (out of 99 possible).

The Save Function is Blocked.
I'll get back to you.

Cheers

Try Rosstech's VAGcom. Version 409.1. It is free and it may let you do it.
