Default Cooling problem

98 A6 Quattro 2.8L with about 85k miles. My AC works but the air coming out of the vents is not very cold. Does anyone know what that could be? Do I just need to have the AC serviced? Or is there some underlying problem that others have experienced?

thanks in advance.

Can nobody help me out here? I'm sure someone has experienced this problem before.

Any help is much appreciated.

your AC might just need recharging, seeing as how it's almost 10 years old, you're probably due for one. also, what is the ambient temp outside when you're trying to use it? from what i understand, the computer uses the ambient temp outside to decide whether or not the AC compressor needs to even be on or not, so it might have just not been warm enough outside?

Yeah, another way to check if the refrigerant is almost gone is your a/c control head won't come out of econ mode, this will also happen if you replace the a/c control head and don't perform the basic settings on the blend door preventing you from using you a/c.
