Dp's the best dam mod for the 2.7t (test results)
ok quick explanation of why I put on stock Dp's.
I am in the military so I am gone for months at a time and only home for short amounts of time. When I am home I love working on my car.
I met up with some friends and after taking my buddys friend for a ride (the same guy I sold my APR chip to) he noticed the huge difference. we did some comparson runs and it was no contest. so after a evning of talking and drinking we decided we were going to modify his Dp's. after removing his Dp's and looking at what it was going to take to make them true piggie Dp's. he offered to buy mine from me for 100$ more than I had payed for them plus labor money for me to do the swap. incase you didn't know the military dose not pay that much so I jumped on the offer.
These cars love the free flowing exhaust his car was like a night and day difference it seemed to transform his car. better exceleration throttle and motor response. after seeing all this I decided to do my own reasearch on Dp's and the differences.
my tests were based on
motor response
boost response and prusure
exhaust temps at the turbos
maf readings to show that the motor required more air thus more power
to musure exhaust temps I drilled into the pre cat section just above the cat. I had to clear out some of the cat materials to get my sensor in. there is like no room
the results were actully quite impressive.
all testing was done at full throttle in second gear tip mode
on stock Dp's
the exhaust temps quickly raced to past 1200deg and as you stayed in the gas the temps climed up to past 1400. from what I hear this is normal
as for the boost it spiked at 15 and quickl fell to around 10 to 12lbs depending on the weather
the throttle response was strong down low but seemed to taper off up top. I drove the car for about a week like this.
then decided that I needed to hurry and get the car switched back to piggies before I leave again on deployment next week
I hounistly didn't want to make the piggies myself so I asked mike at vast if he could help me.
as a side note I would like to thank mike as he made gave me a military discount on making the Dp's and installed them for free........... thanks mike you are a very stand up guy
with the new Dp's in place I noticed that the exhaust temps at idle are much lower I never recorded the exact temp but noticed that the exhaust temps were much lower
full throttle exhaust temps took for ever to make there way upto 1000deg and only slowly move up after that. I never saw the peak temps as I did with the cats inplace. there was a true 300 plus deg drop in temp. not only that but the exhaust temps fell off right away when you got out of the gas. with the cats it seemed that the temp stayed up and slowly fell off
boost wise I cranked my boost controler down to the same setting and saw 18 spike and a 15 hold till red line. it has been much hotter out today than last week where is was quite cold. I feel that I can see even more boost if it cools down
motor response is much better the car pulls like a train all the way threw the rev band the car feels much stronger up top.
this is my second day back in the car with the piggie Dp's so I will look at my logs to see the MAF readings but last I looked they were 20 gps more
well hope this helps sorry for the long read. if there is a interest I will post more info later

RE: Dp's the best dam mod for the 2.7t (test results)
hey frank
if you have a tiptronic 2.7t vastperformance is the only one that makes Dp's for you car. they are only 400 dollars
if you have a 6speed I think that there might be some oher options but they cost 5 times as much as vastperformance Dp's for the same hp difference. IMHO the vast Dp's are the way to go
