I have a 02 A6 4.2, with about 81000 miles. Anyways I was staining a deck for my dad and was completely filthy so I covered my steering wheel with a pair of shorts, anyways the shorts got caught for a second on the windshield wiper flipper on the right side of the steering wheel. once I removed the shorts so I could see the dash, my temp/mpg/miles left of fuel etc. was out, however the warning light saying I have a break light out was still working as well as the gear display, p/r/n/d/s, and in triptronic it worked to 1,2,3,4,5 did I just hit a switch on accedent and turn it of?

Funny how I can't figure this out but was able to replace my timing belt and waterpump haha.

 

There should be a button on the bottom of the right stalk that controls the computer display in the middle of your dash display. The switch on the end of the stalk toggles between display functions, but the bottom button turns on/off the display and resets the 2:00 hour driver warning. A quick press should solve the problem and hold it longer to turn off the 2:00 warning.
