Default Electrical/Ignition problem or something worse

Hello all, I own 1998 Audi A6 Quattro and started having electrical problems at start up recently. My blinkers, headlights, Climate control blower, electric door locks wont work when i start the car. When I turn off the car or shift to another gear it makes a sound kinda like the one a car makes when u start it and its already on and the key is stuck in the ignition....any ideas what it might be and is it going to be expensive to fix??? Ps the car runs fine no hard shift or anything we thought it my be the transmission but i dont think it would have anything to do with all the other problems im having...any help would be great i just need to know what im in for.....THANKS!!!

Your ignition switch blew out. I have a '98 A6 Quattro and the same thing happend to me. I didn't have any headlights, turn signals, a/c blower, or even whipers. Its about a $850 job if you go to Audi and have it done. Luckly for me I knew someone at Audi and I got done for way way less. Take care.

if it is the same as the C4 body type (92 to 97) the part is about 20 bucks from www.force5auto.com and it is under an hour of labor for someone who knows what they are doing. I can't believe how much money the dealers steal from people
