Default electrical problems???

we just bought a 2000 audi a6 2.7t, and after parking for the night i went out and realized that the power is still on in the car even though the key is not in it. im hearing a whirring sound from under the glove box, and the radio turns on and off by pressing the ****. how can i get the power to shut completely off so that electricity is not wasted? i should mention that the dealer had to jump the car when we test drove it, but they said it was because it hadnt been turned over in a few weeks and there was nothing to worry about.

also the stereo is locked, but hopefully the dealer can get the code for us without much hassle.

Ignition switch is bad more than likely, when you remove the key the ignition contacts don't recognize the keys is out the vehicle and keeps the accessories on.

Default RE: electrical problems???

I think that is how audi's are.....I can turn my radio on as well when the key isn't in the ignition and the dash milage and date are shown for a bit until they power down on their own....to my knowledge this is how a6's are. Now if the raido doesn't shut off that is one thing but you should still be able to turn the radio back on after you take the keys out of the ignition. Not sure about the whirring though
