That's hard acceleration. Maybe the road looked dry to you but somehow the computer sensed wheel slippage or even spin. Is it possible there was some sand or dirt? I would not be too concerned unless the lights stay on or it continues to happen. I can usually make ESP come on when I force the tires to spin on snow or ice, but I think it has happened when I have cornered on sand and popped the accelerator to make it slide. Does it happen in 2st or 4rd gear? (Sorry, could not resist.)

I've never had this experience so I'll stop guessing. If worn tires were the cause due to slipping, I would think it would happen during hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd gears also. But only 3rd is very strange. Of course, you go faster in 3rd at red line than in the other gears, so maybe the ESP is sensing something strange at that speed.
