few issues with c5 2.7
I'm having a few issues with my 2.7 c5
prob 1: (ever since i replaced alternator from the dealership AutoZone part)
Volt meters usually reads 14+ sometimes b/w 12-14 at idle but mostly 14+
The fuse for interior dome lights windows keeps blowing, and in the morning when the car is cold the auto seats don't work as volt meter reads 15-16(red) and later start working
Sometimes experiences The car gets stuck in second gear when im slowing down to like a stop light.and doesn't upshift or downshift and all the letter (PRD234) are highlighted. I have to shut of the car and start it again.
Prob 2: indicators don't work reading some articles and think it's the hazard switch where can i find one cheap i read most go for 14-20$ but all i find are 70$ish
Prob3: cassette stuck in symphony radio (lol compared to other problems haha)

For your first problem, sounds like you either have a bad voltage regulator in the alternator, or a cable to it is loose. The regulator should keep the voltage the same nearly all the time. A flakey ground cable can cause something like this, but you may have just gotten a bad alternator.
Can't help with the trans issue, since I have a 6-speed...

The regulator is inside the alternator, so you have to get it out anyway. Search the forums - there are some write ups. Bottom line - it's doable as a DIY, but it's a pain - not much room down there to get at the alternator, and you have to dig through a lot of stuff to get at it. Another reason to use really good parts on these cars. If you don't have the time/tools/flexibility (I have a bum knee so It's not easy getting up and down to work under the car any more), see if you can find an indy mechanic nearby who knows Audis - should be cheaper than the Dealer. I'm actually about to have my alternator done 'cause a bearing is going (whines really loud) - fortunately there's a great Audi tech less than 2 miles from here. Going to have him do several things at once to save some labor...
