fluttering noise at 11 rpm
I posted a topic about this fluttering noise some time ago. The dealer replaced the intake and the CAM adjusters but the fluttering remained. They told me after twp weeks of having the car that the sound is normal...Tired of not having my car and fed up with the BS, i said screw it. Well, the fluttering has gotten louder. i take it to a different dealer under warranty and the get new CAM adjusters and when installing them notic ethat two lobes on the drivers side CAM are history. Now I have to get a new CAM. and then the adjusters will be replaced as well. Anu other things I shold be worried about or ask about while they have the whole motor exposed? What would cause the CAM to suffer? Bad lube? I am hoping this fix eliminates the fluttering noise.

I have used seafoam in the past in fuel, oil ,and straight down the carb. It seems to work well. Will I need to do an oil change after.....They siad that the oil passages were not clogged....HHMMMM....would the ticking/fluttering noise be related?

They probably are related, and yes you can only drive about 50 miles with seafoam in the crankcase or you will trash your bearings, after the 50 miles change your oil and filter.

Ive heard good and bad things about Seam Foam, Not that Im doubt either of you (espically you audi tech, your a tech, you would know). I just wanted to get the facts strait because I was thinking of running it (getting close to 60K miles). Also what do you think of those engine flushes that get put in place of the oil and then run the car for about 10-15 minutes. Ive heard some people say that while they do clean the engine very well, sometimes they end up destroying a track made by an engine part to compensate for the gunk. So by removing it you can make it worse. Im dying to get the truth behind this.

A full engine flush that your speaking of is no more dangerous to the engine than a seafoam treatment, however they BOTH can be death to a motor if its run too long, for instance an engine flush shouldn't be run for longer than 30 minutes. Ive seen people spin main bearings on the crank from running then engine longer than an hour, but not on an audi yet thank god.
