Fuel Filter Change

Fuel Filter Change
I was wondering if anyone has done a fuel filter change before, I searched it and the responses were generally vague. The manual I have says to depressurize the fuel system by pulling the fuse to the fuel pump and cranking it for a few seconds. I can't find anything that says which fuse it is though. That is my biggest concern. I found the filter (not the same as an A4). It looks easy I just don't want to spray myself with fuel. Any tips would be cool.

RE: Fuel Filter Change
I have a 98 A6. I bought a fuel filter at the parts store. The computer system said the filter was located on the passenger side, under the card near the fuel tank. I forgot to ask about the crush washers. Is that something I have to get at the dealer?

RE: Fuel Filter Change
Hi, of course the parts store was wrong. my 98 A6 fuel filter has hose connections over stems that stick out 1 inch from each side of the filter. Not the kind with threads.
it was located under the passenger side near the fuel tank, but under the plastic cowling. you can remove the cowling or try to reach under there if you have the car off the ground.
the parts store are always confused as there was a 98 wagon that was the same as the 97, but i think A6 non wagon came out mid year. actually the online parts stores had it right.
