Default Gas leak

I read the sticky, just looking for some more specifics on my issue. I don't want to drive to the dealer expecting it to be covered under a recall when it's something else entirely.

Picture is the tank access under the rear seat, left side. There's gas sitting in the cover, and gas leaking around to the bottom of the tank. There's a small puddle on the floor and enough fumes to make you about light headed when you open the door to the garage first thing in the morning. Right side access looks fine - hoses are all good and still attached, no leaks. Any ideas if this is the recall issue, or some gasket leaking? I don't have my manual yet, so I don't know where exactly everything is.

EDIT: Just called the dealer, and the recall was done Dec 2011. That was from a previous owner, so I have no idea if it was a complete fuel tank replace or just a hack job.

I've got this same issue too!

2000 Audi A6 2.7T

I'm not covered by the recall, but as far as I was aware that was for a leak on the right hand side? (EVAP lines near the fuel pump)

Mine is worse than yours and actively leaks when I fill more than 3/4 full!

I didn't bother to post what I ended up with since I didn't get any replies. But to help you out and anyone else who comes across this, I took it to the dealer and they did the recall again. They ended up replacing the entire tank and a few lines under the recall. The only thing I had to pay for was gas for them in diagnosing the leak. They couldn't find it at first, so it was apparently only leaking when it was 3/4 tank or more.

That really stinks if you're not covered under the warranty - have you called your dealer at least to verify that? From what I was told on other (more active) Audi forums, the driver's side is where it typically leaks. I think you can see the EVAP lines on the passenger (right) side, so those would be pretty easy to fix yourself with some silicone as a hack-fix of sorts if you had to.

Also read the sticky if you haven't already - https://www.audiforums.com/forum/aud...s-odor-120324/

Crap i don't want to have to replace the tank. I was just going to replace the outer locking ring and the inner seals

The recall and tank replacement only was done if the rollover valve nipples were broken off. From what I understand, they're part of the plastic tank, so you can't really replace just the nipples. If your problem is just with the seals, you shouldn't have to replace the tank. At least that's what I understand (I'm newer to Audis). I'd say someone else should jump in and verify, but I haven't had much luck getting replies on this forum.
