Default heat

Good Morning,
I can't seem to get any cabin heat in my '96 A6 wagon. The blower works fine as well as the vent selector. I have checked the coolant level as wella as any relative fuses. Any suggestions? Thermostat?
Thanks in advance. It's cold in Maine!

Possible clogged heater core or temperature flap in the climate control system.

Is your heater core even in the line? A lot of people when the heater core goes out just bypass it as a quick fix and then when they find out how big of a pain it is to change a heater core and dump the car before winter. Look for a heater hose going into the fire wall and back out. If it is not there, but there are some metal connector lines that are unused usually on the passenger firewall, the heater core is not in line. Some where there should be a long chunk of hose coming off the block and going right back in in almost the same spot that seems like someone just decided to add some extra hose.

And if anyone ever has a heater core go out in the middle of a long trip, now you know, just remove the hose off the ends of the heater core and go back to the block with one end. It is not bad for the engine (just don't kink the hose.)

had exactly the same with mine same year mine got the 2.6 V6 in it was the heater matrix which was £140 for the matrix and £150 labour, it does not require the dash out its done under the bonnet, but if your doing it be warned, its a absolute pig to bleed after, took the dealer 3 hours to bleed it, but what a difference it made. last sunday took mine out at 90mph turn off the traction control and floor the throttle in 4th it pulls alot better to 130mph than with the trac on.

thanks everyone.I did find through a serch, advice from audiworld about a #1 motor flap between the firewall and windshield which controls hot and cold. They offered some direction for removal and repair. Will try this first as soon as it gets into a reasonable temp (+20F) outside
