I just put new front struts on and this is my first time doing so. When i push down on the front of the car I get a clunking/rattling noise. I know its not the Tie Rods or Control arms. Was there a certain way I needed to align the springs? Also, there was no rubber bushing at the bottom of the spring in between the strut.

 

Upper control arms most likely, any time you push on the fender and you hear noises its usually caused by the upper control arm bushings.

 

Did you have the noise before you put the new struts on?
If you did not get the nut tight on top of the strut, this can cause a clunk. BENG

 

yeah, there was no noise prior to in and as soon as the new struts were on, here comes the noise. ill try tightening the top nut- Im sure thats the problem because i didnt have the right tool. ill try the offset wrench/allen key

 

If you have air tools an impact wrench should drivethe nutright on down without having to hold the threaded shaft. BENG
