Default Help: engine warm up

2004 A6 2.7T Auto Quttro
Sometimes when I start the car, the engine is very noisy, soundsbig there is a fan running.
Usually it takes about 90 seconds, during this period;if I drive it doesn't shift to 2nd gear even if I give more gas.
But everything seems to be ok after 90 second warm-up.
What might be wrong?

Thanks.

xav

Joetm is right. Its absolutly normal. Mine does that too. If im in a hurry and I need to warm it up I always wait for that noise to go away first.

Agreed- Audi's are designed to hold its gear until it warms up- I live in the Northeast and experience this all the time-
