i know this may seem like a stupid question but, what is the black thing that is coming from the silver protrusion on the y-pipe and more importantly, how do i remove it so i can remove my y-pipe? i am trying to change out my o2 sensors.

Its the PCV valve, you push the two tabs down, push it inwards, then pull out as hard as you can.
