Just wondering what I should be using to refill my transmission. I have read plenty on the factory ESSO EGL71141. I read a little about the VW auto tranny fluid. What should I be looking for if I go to the VW dealer? Is there NOT a good store bought brand I can use instead of factory fluid? I just need to refill the pan. Yes I made the transmission instead of engine oil mystake. How much oil did I drain out??

You emptied around 4 quarts. Just go to the dealer and buy it. I would buy 5.

You might as well flush it, & put in a new trans filter.

Do a search, we have talked about the proper way to flush & fill the trans. You will need a pump for the fluid.

I put Redline D4 ATF in mine, so it seams to like it.
