Hesitation in Acceleration from a Stop
Wow Old thread!
Clean the throttle body.
The symptoms describes a throttle position problem
Check your codes via a Vag-Com first.
A lot of things could cause this,
Dirty throttle body, Maf, bad wires, Vacuum leak, faulty throttle position sensor.
I was able to clean the TPS on my 4.2 and did a write up on in in the A8 sections, but I'm sure your throttle body is different.
If you have codes post them back in a new thread, that way we don't have to read through this mess to get to your problem.

When it runs okay it's great, when it doesn't it makes you want to push it off a cliff.

Thx for your post I followed your steps. I did not hear anything but my Audi feel brand new again. I have 2005 a6 sline Quattro. I did repeat the steps a few times, because I did not hear the click but as soon as I drove it no more hesitation. THANK YOU!!
