HID upgrade
I'll let others tackle the headlight question, but here's the scoop on chipping...
You can chip a 4.2. You will NOT, however, see anywhere near the gains in performance that you would when chipping a 2.7T. In the case of the latter, modifying the ECU achieved added horsepower by boosting the turbos. Given that the 4.2 is a naturally aspirated engine, the gains produced through this technique are not possible. I think you get a few extra horsepower and remove the speed limiter (normally, the gas kicks off at 130 MPH). Check out www.goapr.com for details.

Thanks for the info...It doesnt sound like it is worth it...I heard you can chip the tranny to change the shiftpoints...That alone would be a huge advantage...I will check out the site you mentioned.
Thanks
Thanks
There is a technique to cleaning the lens, its sunbacked thats the term, its got a yellowish haze on it,
I belive if you talk to a body shop they can do it for a price or you can do it your self. depending on how bad it is depends on if its cleanable. I have use rubbing compound, what bodyshops would use to buff a cars paint to a shine, its the same process but you will need a highspeed buffer.

As for the kit ....

Go to the lighting section, it discusses HID swaps from other Audis. If you are looking at a plug-and-play kit, I cant help you there, and I'd like to know myself.
As for the yellowing headlights, you can use ultrafine sandpaper and follow with an orbital buffer and rubbing/polishing compound until clear. You can change the housing cover itself if you are more mechanically inclined, just look on ebay, the covers pop up every once in a while.
