honest opinion from you A6 owners...
Hey guys,
I currently have a Mustang GT that is just deteriorating and need a daily driver. I was looking around for like a $1000 to $2000 pickup truck or something when I came across a 96 Audi A6 w/ 137k miles on it for $500. This sounds crazy but the person is just fed up w/ the car not starting all the time and running rough that they just want to be rid of it.
They said they have just replaced the timing chain or belt and a few other big dollar things...
Now from what I've read and researched here their starting problem could very well just be the Coolant temp sensor right?
Am I really taking that much of a chance getting this car? In poor condition it's worth like $3000. If all it was is the coolant sensor I could really get a steal I think.
Any opinions are welcome!

That could be a good price if you are willing to put up with a few problems and are comfortable with doing automotive work yourself. Just remember $500 plus $2,000 in repairs is the same as $2,000 and $500 in repairs!
PS - Remember to put a VAGCom in your budget!!

I would get it, just to scrap out the parts if you find it is not worth the time or effort to fix.
PS The best mod you'll ever do for your performance car is buying a daily driver.
