How hard is it to change
I just replaced an alternator on a 1996 Audi A6 with 2.8L 12 valve AFC engine. On these older C4 chassis Audi it is easier, since there is just enough space to slip the alternator out. The newer Audis have a "service position", which may give you enough extra space to remove the alternator.
HELP! I have an 1996 A4 with the 2.8. I need to replace my alternator and I am going to attempt to try it myself. Where would be a good place to look for instructions on how to do so??????????????????? Thanks
You may need to go to the A4 section of the forum to get the correct instructions, as this is the A6 section.
Before beginning, you will need the radio code. Some of the rebuilt alternators come without the pulley or with the wrong pulley. Next, disconnect the battery and remove the belt.
