my turbo seized up the other day and i want to replace it, but don't want to pay for the dealership to do it. i was just wondering how hard it is and what do i have to do to change it.

It shouldnt be too difficult. It wont be easy either. I recently performed major work on my 97 1.8T A4. The most difficult procedure I endured was to remove the bottom bolt from the turbo, there are three bolts in all. If you are up to a decent challenge to save a lot of money, then I would encourage doing the work yourself. Good Luck

 

Just a word of advice, ask around here. There are TONS of people that I'm sure are local. Order some pizza, get some beer, and have someone who knows a thing or two help you out.
