Load Clicking noise when I accelerate
I have a 2000, 2.7T and I recently bought 2 Perelli tires and had them put on about 2 weeks ago. The other 2 are Michelins that were purchased in august. The Parellis and the Michelins have about the same tread depth, but the guy told me that I should have just gotten 4 new tires since it is an all wheel drive vehicle and I could mess up the drive train.
On Monday while I was driving to work, it made this load clicking noise that happened whenever I would accelerate. It also sort of rumbled when I was driving at slower speeds. It was like a fast slight shake. Any ideas what it might be? I'm sort of scared to drive it to the dealer to get it checked out.

RE: Load Clicking noise when I accelerate
Tread depth has nothing to do with tire diameter, the diameter can change with speed, and different brand tires canhave different diameter changes when at speed. Matched tires on a Quattroan important starting point for any problem like your experiencing.
If it was OK in Aug and the problem is recent - I would consider looking at something other than tires although balance is worth a first look. The most obvious place to look is the brakes followed by CV joints. --But I'll bet the dealer will make a pointed comment about unmatched tires!
PS - Can any guess who I am rooting for during the Superbowl??

RE: Load Clicking noise when I accelerate
Typically if I heard someone tell me about a loud clicking / can crushingnoiseonly durring acceleration and a rumble at lower speeds I would tell them they most likely have an exhaust leak.
But I haven't heard the noise, and thats taking the tire theory out of the equation.
