Default Missfire on Cylinder 5,6,7,8

I have an 03 A6 4.2 that has a CEL on. It flashes when under load on the interstate or going up hills and the car shutters before downshifting. I took it to Advance and they told me I had multiple misfires on 5, 6, 7, and 8. I replaced the camshaft sensor and all spark plugs. This didn't work. That leave me a few other options. Coil packs or the ICM? Being that the problems on the right side of the motor I could assume it's not the coils. Any other ideas?

It could be an ICM issue. You can try taking the ICM out and turning it around and then re-install it to see if the problem jumps to the other side of the engine. If so, then you know it's your ICM.

It's ok, I had to do some thinking myself for a second. Follow your coil pack wires to your ICM. There are two: bank one and bank two. Simply swap them around and see if the problem goes to the other side. If so, then you found your problem. I have a feeling that this is probably what you'll find.

Is there a picture showing where this is at? I cannot locate the ICM. I'm no mechanic, lol.
