My Audi A6 jerks at low gears and has delayed acceleration

After driving my 2008 Audi A6 CVT for 3 weeks, I started to notice thatat low speeds (15-20mph) the car vibrates/jerks. Sometimes it's a slight vibration, sometime a harsh series of jerks and other times nothing. It usually happens the first time I start my car in the morning, but lately it's been happening throughout the day.

Secondly, there's a slight delay in the acceleration from a dead stop. I'll hit the gas to pull out onto a street and there will be a half a second delay in the acceleration - which can be scary when your pulling out onto an onslaught of cars in LA.

I took it into a dealer and they said the vibration/jerking was a natural phenomenon of the CVT engine and that the A6 is just a heavy slow car - which I'm having a difficult time believing.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and can shed some light. Could this be some kind of a fuel injector issue? Transmission? A lemon?

Thanks,
Dan

RE: My Audi A6 jerks at low gears and has delayed acceleration
I think it sounds like there is a problem. The delay was happening on my 98 A6 quattro and it really annoyed me. I don't have a CVT transmission but I knew that it wasn't normal. The dealership said it was... I've never noticed this in any other car besides Audi's and Jag's. I used to work at the largest car auction in the world, so I've driven just about everything.

I would really bitch at the dealership and ask to drive one of their cars to see if it is "natural". You will most likely find that it isn't. If it is, then you have your answer.

If they won't let you drive one, go to another dealership and ask to test drive one. Say you are looking at one for your wife or something.

Good luck and keep after it. Get it resolved before the warranty is out!!

The hesitation is normal for the CVT because the belts expand on take-off too quickly so the tranny delays until the belts "find" the right setting.
The vibration is not normal and Audi should fix it. They either flash the TCM or replace the tranny if flashing doesn't fix it. The tranny is around $11,000 which is probably why your dealer isn't touching it. I would find another dealer.

I just purchased a same year A6 with CVT and experience same issue with the a6 as mentioned above. It only has 30K on it this hestitation is not an acceptable or normal condition. I know for a fact, if I pull out of my driveway onto the street downhill without loading the transmission the hesitation occurs, therefore ruling out the transmission as the problem.

Should also mention, I found the intake is much louder then my 05 A6 with tiptronic. Is it possible there maybe an airleak somewhere creating the hesitation or is this a natural characteristic of the CVT A6 cars? Any input is welcomed...
