My transmission is stuck in park!!
Hi Guys,
Sorry that I'm always on here for help, but I guess with an A6 you need all the help you can get!
Can anyone help please, my transmission is stuck in park and won't move!
I have one brakelight bulb which is out, but the other side and the LED strip still light up. The other thing is that when I look closely at the gearlever/selector I can push hard on the brake pedal, but the little illuminated symbol next to the selector (the one of a foot showing that you have to put your foot on the brake) does not go all the way out. Sometimes it dims, sometimes it flickers, and sometimes it looks like it's going out, but actually it's just gone really feint. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what I need to do to rectify this please?
Thanks in advance as always!
Cheers,
Stewart

Year?? Motor?? etc..
My first guess would be a bad brake light switch but it could also be some loose change or focelized french fries stuck in the shift mechanism. To get the change or old french fries you'll need to pry off the cover on the console and beging taking things apart. I found $.85 when I did my Audi.

Hi guys,
The car is a 98 Avant 2.8 Quattro, Semi-automatic with 100k on the clock.
What's an e-brake chaps? Any other ideas, because it moved forward in the driveway, I then put it in park, but when I went to back it up about 90 seconds later, no gears would engage because the lever is locked solid...

Let somebody to push the car up the driveway.
5 cm are enough to take the load off from the "P" pin.
Looks like you have a highly customized car as "Semi-automatic" transmission is not anything typical.
e-brake, parking brake, hand brake - does it ring the bell?
