Default n00b alert!

Hey everyone. For a little about me, see my intro post clickhere.

So, I've just taken my wife's A6 (84k, 2.7t, quattro, tiptronic) to the stealership to get some service done, and found out that I've got a few things to deal w/. First, the PM item that is the timing belt. Also, they said that the front control arm bushings have a lot of play, and there's something going on w/ the cat and the torque converter is starting to show some signs of slippage (seriously, w/ 84K incredibly well maintained girl miles!!?!).

Anyway, not to get everyone thinking I'm gonna ask how to do this, but I'd like some advice on what we can do while in there doing all that stuff to mod this up a little. As you'll see from my intro post, i'm not new to modifying vehicles, but I am a SUPER NOOB [sm=dontgetit.gif]to the audis and performance mods to do w/ turbocharged engines.

So, do you guys have any suggestions on upgrades or mods we should look at while we're doing all the other stuff?? Any help would be appreciated and I'm looking forward to finally getting a crack at "souping up" the wife's ride.

BTW, I'm reading the tips and suggestions thread right now. I'm sure that will have some good info too.

Look around you will get a lot of information about the mods. Don't be scared of clicking on the next page of the forum under A6 title. Especially, look for thread/reply by Formulagigi, as he has done some pretty good mods and he will be one of the best able person to answer all your queries.

get the maintenance done first, thats the most important. Once you've done that then you can look into modifying. I'd suggest a chip, diverter valves, and gutted pre cats or piggies, the car will be night and day after doing those three mods. You can look into beefing up the torque converter while you are in there because if you plan on increasing the power you will eventually have to do it since it cant handle a lot of extra power from the factory

Thanks guys.
Should I look into suspension for it if I'm going to have to get the front control arms replaced anyway or is that something that you'd suggest after the power mods?

Would any of the mods be made easier if done along w/ the above mentioned work?

2.7Ts with Tipchip and regular chip-chips are zippy Very civilized performance gains.
