Default need advice on other items to service Pulling 2.7t engine,

Hello,

I have been reading and searching this forum for quite some time and just now have registered. I have been working up a list of items to replace.

I am going to be pulling the engine and transmission out of the car due to a failed torque converter and needing the timing belt replaced. I am new to the 2.7t and was wondering what else I should replace when the engine is out of the car. It currently has a tiny rough idle, even after the dealer replaced the coils.

it is:

completely stock 2003 A6 quattro 2.7t with 90k

Again, dealer just replaced all the ignition coils.

I will address the suspension when I am doing brake service.

What size vacuum lines do I need?

So far I have I have come up with.

-ECS timing belt kit (belts, tensioner, water pump...ect)

-517 torque converter

-spark plugs

-Green temp sensor

-ECS gasket kit

-Vacuum lines

Anything anyone else can suggest to keep this car on the road 300k plus? Thank you!

No need to pull the engine to do that work. Transmission comes out the back under the vehicle , the timing belt gets done with the front end in the service position (bumper removed & rad support pulled out a bit.

Do I need to support the engine in some manner when pulling the transmission?

Its very easy getting the engine and transmission out together if you do not have a lift. If you have a lift then go ahead and try to take the transmission out by itself, but it still is not easy and you most likely will not torque the engine-transmission bolts back to spec...

Have a look at your starter, your alternator. Change the cam plugs, the cam seals, (the crank seal is not easy, i left the old one) If you do not have to worry much about inspections, you can empty your down pipes (pre cats) and remove your sai system (including the combi valves), get block off plates...

MOST IMPORTANT. Change the radial shaft seal between your transmission and torque converter!!!

If you do end up pulling the motor, I would recommend doing the cam chain tensioners; a job which will be MUCH easier with the motor out.

Check your turbos while the motor is out.

After a couple calls to ECS and Blauparts I think I got everything! I am in the process of removing the transmission. I am also going to do a full writeup on this as well. Thanks everyone!
