New audi owner! and a question
Hey all, Just picked up my first Audi yesterday!!!!! (pics will come later)
Its a 2004 A6 S-Line 2.7T
I got it at 73,000 miles for $15k. Since the big 75,000 mile check is upon me, I had a question:
I realize the check will potentially send me near 2 grand with a timing belt change (correct?). Would it save me much to replace some easy to swap components myself?
Just food for thought

RE: New audi owner! and a question
you shuld get that service for a lot less than 2k, most likely 1000-1200 at a good Indy shop.
I could not tell you whether it is a DIY for you, not knowing your skilld, I would not do it myself. I want an shop to do it, with the work warrantied and an invoice for future resale... PLus I am not that skilled and I would need help the first time plus tools, room and time!
You could get the oil chnaged yourself, filters.... plugs....

RE: New audi owner! and a question
Id say im basic on the skill level. I can replace hoses, plugs, filter, etc. But anything past that Id rather have someone else do it.
I said 2k because I'll be taking it to an Audi dealership due to the fact that Im pretty sure theres no indy shops close to me. Still seem high for getting it done at the stealership?
Thanks for the reply gigi!

I'm 2-3 hours north of you in Holland MI. I use In-tune Imports 616-392-4155 (Jason). For the difference in what the stealer charges and what Jason would probably charge, you could afford a nice dinner and a hotel night and have lots left over. He's been working on my A6 for the past 3 years, 80k miles.
I purchased my TB kit from Blauparts for$350 and labor was about $450. I recently had the spark plugs and fuel filter replaced (he supplied parts) and an oil change (I supplied oil; he provided filter) for a little over $200.
Do the math. Contact me at jjaiven@chartermi.net if you want more information.
